MUMBAI, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- A major fire broke out in City Center mall at Mumbai Central area on Thursday night, and was not under control as of Friday morning, local media reported.

Fire officials deployed around 250 firemen and 24 fire engines in the fire fighting operation. All in the mall were evacuated safely. About 3,500 people were evacuated from the adjacent building, The Times of India newspaper reported.

Two firemen sustained injury during the operation, and no fatalities were reported so far.

The fire fighting operation is going on.
