Tata Motors has entered into a partnership with ORIX India, a global leader in innovative leasing and transportation solution, to offer buyers a personal buying experience for the purchase of the Tata Harrier.

Tata Harrier ‘Priority Test Drives' have been made available at the customer's doorstep and prospective buyers will be able to book their test rides for the Tata Harrier online as per their convenient time and location.

This is an industry first service which is being offered by Tata Motors. The service is initially available in Mumbai and Delhi NCR and will be extended to other cities in a phased manner.

Tata Harrier is the company's flagship model. The process of booking for Priority Test Drives can be done online on the Harrier website with a form to be filled in with customer details. Multiple date and time options are available which can be selected according to the customer's preference and the customer will receive a confirmation for the test drive once the form is submitted. The team from Tata Motors Customer Care will call up the buyer to schedule the test drive offering a more personal buying experience.

Tata Harrier, launched in India earlier this year, faces competition from the newly launched MG Hector and Kia Seltos. Sales in September 2019 stood at 941 units, significantly lower than MG Hector sales which stood at 2,608 units in September 2019. Kia Seltos, launched in India in August 2019 saw sales of 7,754 units in September 2019.

To boost Harrier sales, Tata Motors has been adding new features to the car every month. From all black colour scheme to dual tone option to sunroof as accessory and 5 year extended warranty package to test drives at home. Tata Motors is also offering huge discounts of up to Rs 65,000 on Harrier this Diwali 2019 season.

Unlike Hector and Seltos, Harrier does not get a petrol or an automatic transmission. All it has is a diesel manual option. Considering that about 50% sales of rivals are for petrol engine options, Harrier is losing a lot of customers due to non availability of a petrol engine options. The company has plans to launch Harrier petrol in manual as well as automatic option in the future.

Tata Motors is also actively testing the 7 seater Harrier with launch date scheduled for early 2020. This 7 seater Harrier will also be positioned on the company's Omega platform. It will rival the Mahindra XUV500 which is the only 7 seater, 3 row SUV, currently offered in its segment in the market. It is expected to be positioned above the Tata Hexa in the company lineup. Sales are expected to commence following its showcasing at the 2020 Auto Expo.
