Google now has online travel software

Bombay News.Net
Friday 2nd July, 2010

Google has announced the acquisition of online company ITA, which makes software for the travel industry.

The purchase cost Google $700 million in cash.

Spokespeople for the search engine giant said they would utilise the software to provide a more innovative and streamlined approach to online travel.

Boston-based ITA specializes in organising airline data, including flight times, availability and prices for programs such as Kayak, Orbitz, and Expedia.

With nearly half of airline tickets now being bought online, Google has said it wants to take away the confusion that gives people too many confusing options and unclear ticket pricing.
