Australian tourist's death: knife recovered from Goa bar
Bombay News.Net Saturday 11th October, 2008 (IANS)
Police Saturday recovered a knife from a popular bar in Calangute, Goa, where 65-year-old Australian tourist John Kelly had a scuffle with waiters before his death this week.
The recovery comes three days after the police searched the premises and conducted a panchanama report. Neither the report nor the police complaint had made any mention of a knife.
The wooden handled knife lay near a vase, about a metre and a half away from the spot where Kelly had a slugfest with hotel staffers after an argument over how beer was being served in the wee hours of Wednesday.
A few hours after receiving internal injuries in the scuffle, Kelly had died at a government hospital.
While the hotel management has been insisting that Kelly had assaulted the waiters with a knife, the Goa police had denied the claim.
