Abandoned briefcases causes scare in Amritsar
Bombay News.Net Saturday 11th October, 2008 (IANS)
Two briefcases of a businessman, which were stolen and later abandoned by a thief, created a scare in this Sikh holy city Saturday as people suspected they were bombs.
The police rushed a dog squad and cordoned off the area on the Albert Road to verify what was inside the briefcases.
Police officials, on opening the briefcases, found they contained bank papers belonging to a businessman.
The briefcases were stolen by an unidentified thief from the car of a businessman here. Police suspect that the thief, on not finding anything worthwhile inside the briefcases, abandoned them in the parking lot of a hotel here.
