Huge cache of explosives recovered in Ranchi
Bombay News.Net Sunday 7th September, 2008 (IANS)
A huge cache of explosives has been recovered from the city, the police said Sunday, adding that it was one of the biggest hauls in Jharkhand in recent years.
The police have arrested four people and seized 11,000 detonators, 4.5 kg explosives, gunpowder and five kg potassium nitrate sulphate.
'On Saturday two persons were arrested from the Lapung police station area of Ranchi. The arrested persons revealed the name of Rafiq Ansari of Ranchi. Rafiq's house was raided Sunday and the police seized detonators and other explosives,' a police officer said.
The police suspect the explosives were meant to be supplied to the outlawed Maoist group, Jharkhand Liberation Tigers (JLT).
