Mulayam to discuss n-deal with PM, Sonia

Bombay News.Net
Friday 4th July, 2008 (IANS)

Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav is to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi here Friday to discuss the India-US nuclear deal and the modalities of supporting the Congress-led government if the Left withdraws its support.

According to Samajwadi Party sources, Mulayam Singh Yadav is then expected to get back to the United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA), a regional alliance of which his party is a key member. The UNPA will then take a stand on the question of propping the government.

Congress leaders, including Defence Minister A.K. Antony and Ahmed Patel, met Gandhi Friday morning to discuss the political situation and chalk out a strategy to save the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government if it loses the legislative backing of the four Left parties.
