Friday 4th July, 2008 (IANS)

First a lawyer, then a model - and now Joey Matthew, who loves parties and electronic music, has forayed into the music business by launching her audio solutions company, Audioashram.

'I love partying and good electronic music simply adds to the mood of the party. Nowadays everyone loves to dance; so this is the perfect time to launch a company that supports electronic music,' Joey told IANS.

'The main aim of this company is to promote and propagate electronic music because it is still a budding concept and people do not know much about it,' she added.

Joey's company launched its first album 'The Middle Path' Monday.

'It is an attempt by three musicians to mix electronic music with Indian classical music. This package will cater to young audiences that are not well versed with Indian classical music.'

Not many know that before scorching the ramp, Joey was a lawyer and had apprenticed under famous advocate Ram Jethmalani.

'When I was studying law, I never imagined that I would end up as a model and when I was modelling six months ago, I never imagined I would be in the music business.'

On asking whether her modelling assignments will now take a back seat, Joey said: 'Modelling is my first love. So it will continue because in this company, my major contribution is to package, promote and market the product.'

For the audio solution company Joey has teamed up with electronic music composer and producer Nikhel Kumar Mahajan and Bawa Mohit Singh, who is also the managing partner of Audioashram.

The name of the company too is a fusion of two different languages and this is quite apt because of the kind of music being promoted.

Talking about this, Joey said: 'The three of us were brainstorming and this name just happened. We are happy about our choice because through Audioashram, we want to create a platform for digital artistes to showcase their talent.'
